This Wednesday Sandbox gathering we join Anita Wagner will speak about and facilitate discussion on the topic Sex Addiction in Sex-positive Culture and the Shadow Side of Eros.

The proliferation and availability of pornography and other forms of sex-for-pay via the internet has caused the numbers of people suffering from sex addiction, a/k/a sexual compulsion, to skyrocket. More and more individuals and couples seek counseling because one partner is disinterested in sexual intimacy with the other and instead favors long periods of time viewing online pornography and engaging in masturbation. This often escalates to cyber sex, online affairs, and then to secretive behaviors away from home, i.e. one night stands, anonymous sex parties, and hiring sex workers.

So what is sex addiction? What does it look like and what are the challenges for sex addicts and their partners, especially within sex-positive culture? Is it even possible to be sex-positive AND be a sex addict?

Getting treatment that is non-judgmental and non-shaming is a great challenge. There rages great controversy amongst clinicians as to whether sex addiction exists. Many prefer the term "sexual compulsion" and believe it to be more accurate and less pejorative than "sex addiction." It is certainly less controversial.

Come hear about and join the discussion on this highly misunderstood topic as we explore its various social, spiritual, clinical and deeply painful personal aspects.

This Wednesday Sandbox gathering we share Erotic Reading Night with Nancy Smeltzer. She writes: "Dear Ones, a few years ago, I suggested the idea of having an erotic reading night for a Sandbox Gathering. A Sacred Sexuality group that I belong to out in the Bay area, did it once as a bedtime gathering for the group….sort of an adult version of story time. People could either bring something they had written, or pick something that appealed to them. (It was very interesting how differently men and women choose what turns them on.)"

Carl Jung’s recently published Red Book made the NY Times top 10 best seller list, close to one hundred years after it was created. It is his personal diary and mandalas, detailing his descent into his unconscious with the use of a technique called Active Imagination. Jung felt that the real spirituality after the age 40 was shadow work.

Jung developed his own distinctive approach to the study of the human mind. In his early years when working in a Swiss hospital with schizophrenic patients and working with Sigmund Freud and the burgeoning psychoanalytic community, he took a closer look at the mysterious depths of the human unconscious. Fascinated by what he saw (and spurred on with even more passion by the experiences and questions of his personal life) he devoted his life to the exploration of the unconscious.

Randy Goldberg has immersed himself in Jungian psychology for the past ten years, taking most of the courses offered at the Jung Society of Washington. This Wednesday Sandbox gathering welearn about All Love. Take a few hours out of the busy holiday rush to ignite and get deeply connected to Divine heart energy. All Love is a direct initiation experience brought out into the world by Patrick Zeigler. All Love, formally called Seichim, Sehkem and SKHM (pronounced saa-kem or saa-keem), came into being after Patrick received his direct initiation in the great pyramid at Giza in 1980.  Here is how he describes the work now on his website:

Being here, now, was of our own choosing the adventure called to you, the challenges tempted you, and the possibilities left you utterly breathless for what might happen and for what might not happen; for the heartbreaking and for the paradise making.

The future is ours to shape, though there's been plenty of reason to anticipate the worst in terms of global upheaval and chaos. Recently, however, there are unmistakable signs that due to a shifting of consciousness, the potential for calamity has been lessened. More and more people are asking the hard questions and discovering they have clear and simple answers; answers that reveal their power, their divinity, and ultimately, their responsibilities.
