This Wednesday Sandbox gathering we join Anita Wagner will speak about and facilitate discussion on the topic Sex Addiction in Sex-positive Culture and the Shadow Side of Eros.

The proliferation and availability of pornography and other forms of sex-for-pay via the internet has caused the numbers of people suffering from sex addiction, a/k/a sexual compulsion, to skyrocket. More and more individuals and couples seek counseling because one partner is disinterested in sexual intimacy with the other and instead favors long periods of time viewing online pornography and engaging in masturbation. This often escalates to cyber sex, online affairs, and then to secretive behaviors away from home, i.e. one night stands, anonymous sex parties, and hiring sex workers.

So what is sex addiction? What does it look like and what are the challenges for sex addicts and their partners, especially within sex-positive culture? Is it even possible to be sex-positive AND be a sex addict?

Getting treatment that is non-judgmental and non-shaming is a great challenge. There rages great controversy amongst clinicians as to whether sex addiction exists. Many prefer the term "sexual compulsion" and believe it to be more accurate and less pejorative than "sex addiction." It is certainly less controversial.

Come hear about and join the discussion on this highly misunderstood topic as we explore its various social, spiritual, clinical and deeply painful personal aspects.

I have been interested in Feng Shui for years and reorganized and repainted my home a few years ago based on Feng Shui. It certainly helped improve the energy feeling of my place. My host in Bolivia, Jamila, also has an interest in Feng Shui and other spiritual matters. This week we went to a guided meditation (in Spanish) at the Kryon Center. While I only understood about 50% of the words I still got the energy behind the meditation and felt wonderful afterwards.

Reminds me of when I first took yoga classes in Netherlands 20 years ago and had to watch the other student's poses to know fully what to do -- and then in the guided deep relaxation I just followed the gist of what the instructor said and went with the tone of her voice. Goes to show that most of the content of what we say is in the tone and body language and not the words! I would also these days add that the intent behind the words matters too - which is something I hope you can feel in this blog post. :-)

However citizens in Egypt are still organizing using photocopied fliers and maybe phone trees. It is hard for a government to totally control it's people these days...

I did a 3 hour healing session today in La Paz and am a bit tired! All well in Bolivia - I have Skype set up and can make phone calls to clients in States and to friends. My Skype ID is abundantmichael if you want to contact me. Weather is wonderful - 70 degrees and sunny every day. Beautiful mountains and friendly people. I am learning Spanish fast with so many people to practice with!

And easy to run my computer business remotely with gotmypc, Skype and email. The 4 Hour Work Week book tips on working remotely really do work!! :-) BTW I heard from some people that thought I had sold my business and had a bundle of money in the bank allowing me time and money to travel - no! I am still running it and I have very little money in bank. I had to overcome fears and go for it. So glad that I followed my intuition and did that. Once you are abroad it actually costs less to live than in US plus there is the adventure factor of being in a new country!

Interesting video on the coming currency collapse with possible consequences. FYI The video is about an hour and you can't pause it. They also are pitching their investment newsletter  ($49 for a year) towards the end of the video but that does not detract from the interesting research on current US currency crisis and historical facts from other countries currency collapses. Lots of facts such as US shantie towns, empty house ghost towns in Las Vegas, bankrupt state governments, falsse unemployment stats (I would add false CPI numbers too). Touches on non money issues of the collapses too - food stocks, safety, riots etc. Gives suggestions for protecting your finances - gold, silver, some new stock "shorting" trick and I think food investing (you have to buy the report to get details)

Covers evidence of how we are already in first stages of collapse and how past collapses have been "unexpected" and "sudden" and the psychology of "normalacy" aka denial in most people before, during and after a sudden shift like this. Recommended.

A positive idea for us to use now to grow healthy local food in cities...

I was inspired tonight by a different perspective on producing our food: the
vertical farm!

us to use more sunlight), in cities, to grow our food instead of ship if
from who knows where. Totally hydroponic, no dirt required, add a few
nutrients to water that circulates and is therefore conserved. Very low
technology, but the cost of doing this in cities is limited by the price of
real estate. There are practical solutions out there.
