Wednesday Gathering in Rockville - The Passion Test 2/4/09

This Wednesday Sandbox gathering we look at what gets our juices flowing. Have you ever worked in a job you couldn't stand? Or are there parts of your job that you love and others that drain your energy? Or is it your relationships that you want more passion in? If you aren't passionate about what YOU are doing, now is the time to change that. Passionate people have more fun at work, make more money and I believe attract better coworkers too!

The first step is to take The Passion Test (based on a book by Chris and Janet Attwood http://www.thepassiontest.com/ ). It's a simple, yet powerful process that will help you discover the five things that matter most to you in your life. Let us show you how to use The Passion Test and the unique technology that goes along with it, to start now and create the kind of life you have always wanted to live.

Isn't it about time you begin living YOUR dreams? Do you know you have a greater purpose, but you're not yet living it? How closely is your current life aligned with your passions? Your Passion Score will tell you. Most people get a wake up call about where they've been putting their attention after they score their top 5 passions.

The discovery process begins after dinner at 8pm.  I invite you to join us, though as always what ever choice you make you will be honored in.

Happy Imbolc

Happy Imbolc! Today is the pagan cross quarter day of Imbolc. I suggest we celebrate with a small ritual at this week's Wednesday gathering. Perhaps lighting candles and creating new passion for the year ahead - which would fit in well with the topic of "the passion test" for Wednesday. Any other ideas?

While less famous than Solstice or Beltane, Imbolc, also known as Candlemas,  is the re awaking of the Earth Mother so that She may return to make our lands green again. It is also a time when the Sun God is encouraged to grow in strength so that He may awaken the Goddess from Her Winter slumber.

Imbolc actually means "in womb". This refers to all the Life that is laying beneath the hard frozen ground, in our Earth Mothers "womb", waiting to come forth in the Spring. It is up to the Sun God to warm the frozen ground and stir these seeds so they may blossom.

In our tradition, we take this time to encourage others and ourselves. The dark Winter months tend to depress many people, and several seem to give up hope. On Imbolc we restore that hope in order to survive. We light candles in a variety of ways to show that there will be brighter times and hopefully to encourage that inner light within all of us to ignite and flare.

Interestingly Imbolc may also be seen as the pagan version of Valentine's Day, with a de-emphasis of 'hearts and flowers' and an appropriate re-emphasis of Pagan carnal frivolity. This also re-aligns the holiday with the ancient Roman Lupercalia, a fertility festival held at this time, in which the priests of Pan ran through the streets of Rome whacking young women with goatskin thongs to make them fertile. The women seemed to enjoy the attention and often stripped in order to afford better targets.

Happy for No Reason Summary

The book "Happy for No Reason: 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside Out" by Marci Shimoff (www.happyfornoreason.com) offers an approach to being happy, that doesn't depend on achievements, goals, money, relationships, or anything else "out there." Most books on happiness tell you to find the things that make you happy and do more of them. Although there's nothing wrong with that, it won't bring you the kind of deep and lasting happiness most people long for — the kind you'll never lose, no matter what happens in your life. Based on cutting-edge research and knowledge from the world's leading experts in the fields of positive psychology and neurophysiology, plus interviews with 100 truly happy people, this book provides a powerful, proven 7-step program that will enable you to be happier right now — no matter where you start.

Studies show that each of us has a "happiness setpoint" — a fixed range of happiness we tend to return to throughout our life — that's approximately 50 percent genetic and 50 percent learned. In the same way you'd crank up the thermostat to get comfortable on a chilly day, you can actually raise your happiness set-point!

Live Blood Analysis 1/29/09 - 1/31/09

on January 29th through 31st, Mark Perlstein, a Nutritional Consultant and Live Blood Microscopist, will be having appointments right here at my house to do the actual Live Blood Cell Analysis for YOU.  Does your blood look like

THIS:

Clumping blood

OR THIS:

You can find out by making your appointment.  The charge is a minimal $50 which is very low compared to other testing facilities.  I had Mark test my blood last , and was amazed at what I saw under the microscope!

"Nutritional Cleansing is the safe, effective way of shedding unwanted impurities from the body.  Since the body stores fat to protect itself from these impurities, it can then eliminate the excess fat and lose the unwanted pounds and inches very quickly, within days in most cases.  These systems also work well with athletes, lean people, and anyone who is under stress, no matter their age."

Appointment slots are limited, so please don't delay, in securing yours.  Scheduling is being done by Glorie Magram on a first come - first served basis.  Please contact her at
OGlorieGirl (at) aol.com and provide your e-mail address and phone number.

Wednesday Gathering in Rockville - Nutritional Cleansing 1/28/09

On Wednesday, January 28th, we will have a special guest at our Wednesday night Sandbox dinner gathering,  Mark Perlstein, Nutritional Consultant and Live Blood Microscopist.  After dinner, Mark will be giving a short talk and "Q and A" on "Nutritional Cleansing for Better Health."  Mark says,

I have done several different cleanses and they certainly helped me to be healthier. Another benefit for me is that I find it easier to connect with spirit now that my body is detoxed. I guess my belly brain got defogged too!

Then, on Thursday January 29th through Saturday 31st, Mark will be having appointments at my house to do Live Blood Cell Analysis so you can see your own blood.

The talk begins after dinner at 8pm.  I invite you to join us, though as always what ever choice you make you will be honored in.

Meet Daniella Peltekova, our Facilitator for January 2009
Bio: Daniella Peltekova comes originally from Bulgaria where the mountains hold a deep tradition of peace, wisdom and spirituality. She became enamored with the 5 Rhythms practice 5 years ago while she lived in Amsterdam, Holland and still held a high-powered corporate job as a technology consultant. Daniella moved to New York City at the end of 2007 to pursue deeper learning from the 5 Rhythms source, qualify as a teacher and begin her journey as a teaching practitioner. She has held classes and workshops both in NYC and in Bulgaria. Following the intuition and creativity of her inner compass, the movement practice has brought her forward to most fulfilling challenges and changes of perception, ways of life and actions of service. Daniella is also a poet and a change agent in organizational development and authentic leadership, weaving it all in an inspiring spiral of continuous learning.

Movement Philosophy: Everything is in a constant movement and flux, the Universe dances its infinite, intricate, beautiful - daily, monthly, yearly - dances and it is of utmost human importance to be able to listen to our own bodies and spirit, move in unison with them and uncover their irrevocable connection to the larger dance of life. Empowered by soul reflection, self-knowledge, roots and fluidity we become fully alive in our practice of 5 Rhythms dance and bring magic forth in our practice of daily life.

Wednesday Gathering in Rockville - Happy For No Reason 1/7/09

This Wednesday Sandbox gathering we have fun learning how to be happy for no reason.

Are you waiting for a goal to complete to be happy? Or waiting for the perfect job to be happy? Or the perfect partner? Or using food/drink/drugs to be happy? Have these external things/events brought lasting happiness to you? Maybe there is another way - the state of "being happy for no reason".

Some people are happy without a reason. They have a higher happiness set point that other people. But this is not all genetics - your set point can be changed! We will do some exercises for raising our in built in happiness set point from the book "Happy for No Reason" by Marci Shimoff. Happy people are more fulfilled, relaxed, and peaceful—and they live longer and earn more money! Learn the practical strategies to help you experience happiness from the inside out. I imagine you will get more out of it than any happiness from the outside in!

The happiness begin after dinner at 8pm.  I invite you to join us, though as always what ever choice you make you will be honored in.

Wednesday Gathering in Rockville - Sandbox Carol Sing Wed 12/19/08

This Wednesday Sandbox gathering we have fun singing carols.

David Hollies told me that he used to do Christmas big time. He had a big
neighborhood party, a fancy tree, lots of lights, and decorations all over the
place.  Since his brain troubles started a few years ago, he has had to be much
more careful about how he spends his energy.  He had to ask himself what was his
favorite part of Christmas and how could he continue to manifest that piece.
Here is what he figured out:

"Once I posed the question, the answer was obvious.  I just love getting a bunch
of people together and singing.  So a Wednesday Dinner Gathering dedicated to
caroling has become the centerpiece of our Christmas celebration.  We bring the
piano out of mothballs, light a fire in the fireplace, pass out
songbooks, and dive in with enthusiasm."

"Often, someone brings a guitar. We also have an electric piano for anyone who
feels inspired to play that.  I, for one, have a hard time carrying a tune, so I
find it helpful to sing with others.  Musical accompaniment makes it even
easier.  So, if you're a musician, please come and play with us.  Drums, flutes,
didigeroos (however you spell it!), or whatever calls to your musical
expression.  We hope you'll join us."

BRING: Your enthusiasm -- good singing voice is NOT a requirement.  We'll
provide songbooks.  Piano fingers (we'll have a piano),
guitars, other instruments, or small percussion items.

The carols begin after dinner at 8pm.  I invite you to join us, though as always what ever choice you make you will be honored in.
